I'm facing an issue with my digital agency sales strategy. When I pitch to clients, they often misunderstand our services, assuming we only offer graphic design and social media management. In reality, we provide a broader range of services, including custom development, software development, and B2B solutions. I'm considering separating these offerings into two businesses with different names to clarify our offerings. any thoughts?

You need to get better at explaining your services. Why are they misunderstanding what you tell them?

    2. You have to do more than bullet point features. You have to go into benefits on …your socia …oh, damn.

    3. That’s a possible strategy.

I’ve had this same issue, as I’m in the same field. Referrals are really the best strategy because someone else is basically saying “hey this firm can do what you need”.

Absent referrals, I’d have to know about how you’re getting these conversations started in the first place. Where are your leads coming from?

I’ll give you an example. I’ve been in this business > 20 years. I joined a local business networking group and started selling myself as a full service digital agency blah blah blah, and when I would talk to people individually they’d always ask “so what exactly do you do again?” It’s better to just say “I can design your website and help keep it updated.” People get that and it’s easy for them to remember.

Reality is, sales is about the client, not you. Best to have a convo, see where their main pain points are, and tailor your pitch to that, as opposed to throwing the full service at them. Get a foot in the door, let them know how you can solve their problems, and they’ll sell themselves. Provide good service over time and then upsell adjacent services later.

Buzz words don’t attract clients. Solutions do.
