I need some help from adjusters here. I filed a claim today for my 2015 BMW 328i. Damages is mainly to the mirror that got completely smashed and some other body damage. All cosmetic besides the mirror. Door opens and closes fine. My main concern is Credit Karma says it’s worth $5k. Online I see them going for around $7-$8k. I’m worried that the body work can cost more in labor than what it’s worth and the insurance company telling me my car is not worth much and they will issue a salvaged title instead. This would suck because I am underwater in the vehicle and it drives fine. I don’t want another car.

My question is, can I tell the adjuster for the shop to just “buff it out” or go with a more affordable option? I don’t care if it’s not done professionally as long as it’s not noticeable.

Can I just forgo the body all together and just get a new mirror?

If the mirror is less than my deductible, can I just pretend like I never filed the claim and pay out of pocket.

    Many thanks.
