My sons dad told me years ago that he was doing so, for funeral expenses in case of an accident. I recently asked about it and he said that there was never one. He has a history of gaslighting and was abusive to me in the past, and I’m afraid for my son, but don’t have anything to justify calling the cops. How do I find out if there is one? I’m in Alaska.

Not really any way to know unless you have some idea of who the insurer might be.
What’s causing you to be concerned for your son? You have an insurable interest in your child so there’s nothing stopping you from taking out a burial policy if that’s what’s concerning to you.
