Question on DFAS debt.

Hi,

I had a dfas debt that I got a notification in the mail about. I believe it was for missing gear during turn in when I got out. It actually didn’t even have any remarks on it when I got the notice but I assumed that’s what it was for. I paid the debt and just out of curiosity I called DFAS’s debt line and I told them I paid the debt but I wanted to check and see if I had anything else outstanding to pay because I just want to cut ties and be done with any lingering military stuff and didn’t want any hidden stuff to bite me in the butt. ( When I got out I’d get mail in regards to the missing gear every couple months and I kept getting told it’d come out of my taxes but nope)

Anyway, when I asked them, they told me I had 3 debts (including the one I paid), and that they could not give me any information on the other 2 because I hadn’t been notified of them. I asked well wait are these debts I’m going to have to pay, what are they for? They said they cannot answer that or give me any information on them.

So now I have 2 debts I may or may not have to pay at some time in the future? This makes no sense to me. Can anyone give any guidance on what my next step would be. I just want to get this stuff over and done with.
