How am I supposed to live over the next year or more? I found a home to rent but need the renters insurance.
We are not at fault for the fire and have proof of this from the fire investigator.

I apparently cant get renters insurance because I have an open claim on my house that burned down last month.

You’ll have to find a company that allows a fire on your loss history. Fires are huge red flags because there are very few situations where the fire couldn’t have been prevented by basic maintenance.

    2. Reach out to an agent who has access to high-risk carriers. They will be able to find something for you. Be prepared for it to be expensive (for a renter’s policy).

Is your homeowners policy still active? If so, reach out to your insurance company. They may be able to write a renter policy for you.

I wanna understand something how did the faulty coffee maker burn your house down?? Were you not home when you were making coffee? Did you not notice it catching on fire?

I assume the coffee maker was in the kitchen next to his sink or some source of water.
