Got the platinum card and initiated the process to waive the annual fee (I’m an AD Officer). It’s been two weeks since, and the annual fee just populated on my statement. For those who have the card, did you just pay the fee then they later reimbursed you? Customer service recommended doing just that, and also mentioned it can take up to 30 days to get the fee waived. Anyone have past experience with this?

Well the fee is due and they are not mandated to remove it, so yeah I would pay it. How long have you been in? Sometimes the system that they use for verification takes 60ish days.

The waiver process is slow. It’s typical to get billed for the fee, pay up front, and then get reimbursed a month or two later. This is based on discussion with multiple AD co-workers over the years. Everyone I know got reimbursed eventually. Most were also reimbursed for any fees they paid on any AMEX cards throughout their lifetime.

Sending a message from your online account has the best success rate and speed. There is an option in the menu for military waivers that seems to send it to the right place. Calling or chatting can be hit and miss depending on the agent’s knowledge.

    3. Pay now, reimburse later. Don’t make the mistake of getting hit with a late payment. :/
