Theft of Personal Property @ a business.

I had property stolen from a local machine shop (Sole Proprietor w/ no employees). The owner was forced to close up shop due to poor health / death. The owner never notified me about picking up my parts but he definitely did not take the parts with him. My homeowners policy says that it’s not classified as theft and declined my claim. Is this correct?
