My secondary dependent application was recently approved while on rotation overseas. I just found that I need to submit a DA 5960 and attach the DFAS approval memo.
The application was approved for travel allowance and BAH effective July 31st, 2023.
I need some guidance on what else I need to do, bc my S1 hasn’t dealt with this before.
- Would I be eligible for family separation pay?
- What steps do I need to take for the travel allowance?
- Other than the BAH, is it true that I will also get reimbursed all the money I’ve spend supporting my parent?

1. I believe so. Check DoD FMR, Volume 7a, Chapter 27.
2. Are you PCSing? When you do, your travel per Diem, TLE, etc will include your dependent as long as they actually move with you.
