Hello all,

As stated in the title, my house was severely damaged by fire on Saturday, June 1st.
Third party is the insurance company for a home security company.
Their installer drilled into the power main (😱), and the sparks caught in the attic and roof.
    He was unharmed, miraculously!

I’ve been in touch with my own agent, and the security company’s contact at their insurance company.
Her words were, “Okay, we’ll get someone out to look at it and be in touch.”
I had to make her take my email address.

We have 3 small kids and I’m 30 weeks pregnant.
The house is uninhabitable, but not everything is damaged (yet), we do have storms in the forecast.
I’m concerned about bringing a newborn into a moldy/mildewy environment, and about further damage.

Should I consider everything in the house as lost, and start collecting evidence of value?
How can I get the 3rd party to move their butts?
I’m in Virginia, 3rd party is in Utah.
Any other ideas I’m not thinking of, please tell me.
It was pretty devastating to watch our home being cut up by chainsaws so the firefighters could put it out.

Dealing with third party after a house fire.
