im a Texas resident, Texas DL. i was stationed in Oregon for 3 years and my car has OR registration, plates, tags. Now im stationed in Florida. Do i have to register my car in FL or can i keep my OR tags?

i went to the DMV today and they told my my OR tags don't expire until next year and to just wait for them to expire and that i don't have to register my car here because im military, even if i have a Texas DL. other people have told me otherwise though so im unsure.

Can i keep my plates/tags from previous state after PCS?

I have a Florida license, that has an Arizona address on it and my car is registered in the Midwest and it’s all legit. Just call the Oregon DMV and confirm you’re good to continue using your tags and give them your updated mailing address

The only thing you need to change is your insurance to reflect your new location

While you have the option to purchase a Florida license plate when stationed here, the United States Federal Code for the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief Act of 1940 authorizes non-resident service members to display a current license plate from their home state, so you can keep your home state plate.” [https://www.flhsmv.gov/military/motor-vehicle-registrations/](https://www.flhsmv.gov/military/motor-vehicle-registrations/)

You can choose to register your car in FL (waiting until OR expires saves you a bit of $) or renew online with OR, if they allow you to.
