Unsure if I should switch jobs or not

So I currently work for a statefarm agency. I’ve been there for a year and a half. I do sales, calling customers who are interested in an auto quote, and try and sell them like, disability etc. it’s my first office job. I am currently still in college but working full time (22 F). I only have served before. The goal for this job was to get experience while I was in school so I didn’t graduate with no skill set. I’m now at a point where I want to leave and go somewhere else. I’ve been offered a job where a friend of mine works selling life insurance and Medicare supplements. This job is commission only. I am really in between and not sure what I should do.

I spoke with my current boss(the agent) and we had a long conversation about how I can succeed at State Farm and become an agent myself but it would take a few years. The idea sounds good but I am not sure if this is where I want to stay. I feel like I’m starting to not like going into work, I dread it on Sundays before the week starts and every night before.

I feel like a change for me would be good and it would give me a different environment where I don’t constantly have to sit at a desk 8 hours a day and am actually able to go out to people who are interested in the policies I’m trying to sell. I feel like with the State Farm agency I can’t do school and the job and exceed in both. I’m not sure if I just want a break, if I’m burnt out, I just have no idea

    Any advice would be great

    1. I think you answered your own question. Sales does not sound like your gig. If you want to stay in insurance, maybe look at underwriting, product development etc. Unfortunately, these are still desk jobs. What are you majoring in? Maybe look for jobs in that field and or what you are passionate about.

The plus side, 1.5 years of sales experience is great experience and will help when you in interviews for that dream job.
