A few weeks ago I was hit by a semi driver on 294n in chicago area. He was merging in a construction zone and likely did not see me. It was a low speed crash, with his left steer tire running into my right rear tire, 1/4 panel etc. The driver was uncooperative and wouldn't provide his info or get out of the truck. ISP told me they were backlogged with calls and wouldn't be out for a while, and that I could report it online or in person at their dispatch office. I took some pictures and a video, an eye witness stopped and gave me his info, and said he stopped because it was the semi's fault from what he saw. Semi also had a factory installed dashcam.

I'm dropping car off for estimates today. It may or may not total out (KBB about 10k) but being that it was a CDL driver for a major company, I want to make sure I'm not leaving anything on the table, as far as diminished value, time spent, inconvenience etc.

I contacted Lerner amd Rowe, and basically found out that unless you're going to stop working and spend time going to the it doctors, they can't help. I have seriousness existing conditions that are aggravated the last 2 weeks (I was en route to my pain specialist when it happened) but that really muddies the water as far as moving forward with a claim, especially since I was able to drive away from the accident. Moneys tight the next few months and this has been a huge strain on my family. Can I do anything aside from a standard claim? Any help appreciated.
