This might be a long question, so sorry if it bores some. I recently separated from the Navy last May. I moved my family back home on my own and moved myself. I was told by my admin to just rent a uhaul and I would get reimbursed once I separated. Shockingly, after I separated and filled out my travel claim, the same admin that told me to just buy a uhaual told me that they wouldn’t cover the charges and that had to be handed over to PPM or whatever. When reading the checklist that was sent to me it said that I needed to weigh my fucking uhaul before leaving. No one ever told me that. And I did ask multiple times if it was as easy as renting the truck and getting paid back for it. Everyone in admin told me yes. So my question is, am I fucked? Or is it possible to rent the same uhaul I originally did and weigh it down and use a receipt that won’t have matching dates. Idk where tf to weigh this truck or how the weight receipts will look. Hoping I didn’t waste 2 grand and a bunch of labor.

    HOR Move.

    1. Yes, you need weight receipts. I guarantee this was covered in your PCS/outprocessing checklist/training. Any time you move yourself, you need weight receipts. Hard stop.

Not sure what branch, but in the Army clearing transportation is required, that’s where you get briefed about how to get reimbursed for your move. But yes, empty and full weight tickets is a must, to include a copy of vehicle registration or refresh attending in your case. Without those you are getting reimbursed for moving your household goods, which could be a few thousand $.
