It happen yesterday

He came across the double white line when i approached into frontage road. 100% opposite driver fault

Stopped him asked him to give insurance information. He said he did not have

I took a picture of license plate

Let him go, cuz he is not a normal person seems like.

    It was minor damage, but

I changed my mind to go further.

But the police i met “ if i were you i would not report” “ cuz, so minor damage, even if you reported it, it will remain in your VIN number, decrease your car value, not even need to go to auto shop to fix”

So i think that might be right.

But my friend told me that at least even not use your insurance, you have to report it, cuz he might sue you later. Even though he fault.

Hmm should i report police at least?

Does even make sense that he sue me?

If the police said really decrease my car value, i will just go really further like check medical exam and hire lawyer and get some physical therapy like that

    Should i report to police?

The pics really show us nothing helpful. File a police report. Whether you want to open a claim or not for repairs is a personal choice, and damages might even meet your deductible. You need to find out approximately how much repairs will be before deciding if you want to file a claim or not.

What are the police going to do at this point?

You correctly CYA by having the dash camera.

Have your insurance do a carrier discovery based on the other vehicle plate.

Your insurance will not pay diminished value…it is not covered under your policy.

If the other driver is uninsured, you can file for damages in small claims court

No you’re willing to commit insurance fraud to fix something for $5 and now you have admitted that you will do it. Just repair it yourself and leave it be he’s not going to sue you.
