I don’t understand what any of the Tsp funds mean. I have tried to do my own research on them but I just don’t understand what they do. Can someone please help me understand them better?

Can someone explain the TSP funds to me like I’m 5 years old? And what TSP funds to actually invest in?

    1. C Fund: Tracks the S&P 500 which is basically the largest 500 companies in the U.S. (Walmart, McDonalds, Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia etc)
I Fund: International fund (Non- U.S. companies and emerging markets)
      F Fund: Fixed income fund
S Fund: U.S. Small cap funds (companies striving to grow to being one the C Fund companies (will catch risers like Tesla but will catch more companies failing)
G Fund: Basic bond fund that is low risk but also low reward
L Fund XXXX: Lifecycle fund that matches when you plan to retire and will slowly move a portion of your portfolio to lower risk as you get closer to retirement.

On the TSP website it will break down each fund and provide more data but above is a synopsis.
