In Dallas right now and this company is getting torn apart. Overbooked flights, mechanical failures, flight crews deciding not to show up. Does anyone know why this is happening to airlines right now? I thought this was expected to be a great recovery period for them.

    1. I don’t know but I’ve been flying yesterday and today and holy shit every single goddamn flight is delayed and backed up and it’s fucking up all of my connections.

Puts on US air travel. 💵💵💵

AA left me and my family stranded on a Saturday night and told me with a straight face they had us rebooked for Wednesday. Fuck AA. Never again

    3. Peeps have finished their “revenge” travel post Covid. They never managed to staff up properly again after the Covid layoffs, so they are running on fumes when it comes to staffing.

High interest rates then kill off any companies profits and that leaves no room for hiring more peeps.

What gets sacrificed first is quality and then pretty soon after that safety…

    4. Isn’t AA having issues reaching a contract agreement with some of the union workers.

    5. Cost cutting bullish. Puts on your sanity and vacation plans 📉![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

Pfft. Gen Z and their “the world is falling apart” at slightest signs of struggle. Shit happens. Life throws you curve balls. Move on to the next Wendi’s.

They also just announced the cancellation of all scheduled new hire pilot classes for the remainder of 2024. They blame Boeing. They have over 1000 mandatory retirements in the next year or so but they aren’t running new hire classes? Something bigger is going on.

    8. It’s boeing, and maintenance issues. Too many airborne issues. Of my last 10 AA flights only 1 was an Airbus. Rest were the problematic 737 Max.

But also there’s been extreme weather somewhere every week.

I flew British Airways to London in last month, went off without a hitch

I had to take an AA back from London to the US. This time? Probably the worst experience on a series of flights that I can recall. They moved out gate 7 times, bumping the flight an hour each time. We started and finished our trip around the terminal like horses in the fucking Kentucky derby.

I got burned on them 4 weeks ago

Staying out of airlines for awhile

Seems like they are all as much of a mess as Boeing

I believe there’s a labor negotiation going on with one of the groups. Historically this never goes well with AA specifically. The pilots still aren’t fully integrated from the US Air merger…which US Air still didn’t have their with America West labor contracts fully ironed out before AA stepped in. (From what I’ve heard). With prices so close these days, I would gladly pay an extra $50 to not deal with AA’s bullshit.

AA flight attendant labor negotiations. And part availability/supply chain issues still haven’t fully recovered for a lot of parts since COVID, especially with the ramp up of both GTF and LEAP new engine models. Plus both Boeing and Airbus being behind schedule on new aircraft deliveries (Boeing obviously in a much worse way with the certification issues for 737 Max 10 vs Airbus just being unable to keep up with the massive demand).

They delayed my wife’s flight out of Dallas 3 times and then cancelled her flight. Wasn’t weather related, just we don’t have a flight crew. WTF is wrong with this company. She flew to Rapid City SD and they lost her bags.

They still have your money though. Only matters when they have to give it back

    15. Stock buy backs instead of increased wages and improved infrastructure. A tale as old as time.

    16. Important_Abroad7868 on

AA cancelled my wife’s flight from Austin to Philly. They made her fly to LA then to Philly. 15hrs late.

    17. I just flew AA and 3/4 of our flights delayed. Arrived at destination 12 hours later than planned.
