Sorry if this has been out for a while, I just heard about this and want to spread awareness.

BLUF: the window to apply for continuation pay is shrinking from 8-12 years of service to just 8-9. Also you are NOT grandfathered into the old window.

UPDATE: might be Army specific. Found the 2025 continuation pay plan for Navy and Marines

    1. Any word if this change is likely to apply to all branches with members enrolled in BRS or just army?

    2. I’m trying to figure out if it applies to all branches or Just Army. I’d assume all branches but it doesn’t specify

Is this Army-specific? USAF has so far only allowed CP right at 12 years. This could be incredibly relevant for me as I just entered my 8th year of service, so I could potentially have only a few month window to get this to go through once 2025 begins.

    4. I wonder if they are going to change it and add another bonus at say 15 years. I know a lot of officers in the Army Guard who probably would have done 20 are putting their BRS continuation bonus into their TSP and are saying buy at year 12.

The extra 8 years aren’t worth it. Tricare for life and retirement which is peanuts starting at 60 when you hit 20 around 42-45 doesn’t make sense when you could be done at 34 and just let that investment grow since you can’t touch it anyway.
