I am looking at an extended rotation coming up. I live in an apartment alone currently. I own my own vehicle completely paid off. How do I maximize my financial situation while on rotation? I figure I’ll put all my stuff in storage. I am also considering selling my car and buying something cheaper when I get back. Any advice/tips/resources is greatly appreciated!

Don’t sell your car, just put it in the lot they offer for your vehicule. Take out the batteries put it in your vehicule and lock it and have a cover on your vehicule. Lock the car make an extra key take one with you. Leave the other one with family. Tell your car insurance you will have your car in storage mode so you keep your insurance but it’s dirt cheap. Show them your deployment orders if you need to.

Take your deployment orders to your landlord & tell them you will need to break the lease when the time comes. Search around for cheap storages or see if there’s some on base for cheap. If you still have a couple months left sell a couple things on Facebook on your post.

If you phone with AT&T get the newest iPhone and you can cancel your contract with your Deployment orders & will be automatically paid off since you’re going on deployment. If not go to your phone company and ensure their network covers wherever you’re deploying to & if you haven’t yet make sure to get on a military plan. If they don’t cover there when you get to your deployment area, you can get a cheap phone with a company there and get the WiFi together.

Whatever extra money you get while overseas put it in allotments. So, that you don’t spend it. Budget when you go out. Try to eat at the deefac, get snacks so you don’t go out buying a lot of foods and drinks.

Let your bank know you will be going overseas so that they can be tracking and don’t freeze your account & that you’re able to withdraw or spend money as necessary overseas. If you haven’t yet make your account a military one if your bank has it.
