      Rumor has it years ago they were selling higher speed processors as new processors when they were actually older and slower processors but just over clocked them. It wouldn’t surprise me if any of this was true.

    3. No, what is going on is motherboard manufacturers are selling unlocked chips with settings wildly different from the actual Intel recommended default settings causing issues. That’s why you see it limited to unlocked chips rather than off the shelf PCs with locked chips.
