The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grounded SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket pending an investigation after one broke apart in space. This is the first such failure in 7 years. Previous instances of failure led to FAA groundings for 6 months and 4 months, respectively.

As a result, there is now uncertainty about when Falcon 9 will be able to resume launches.

This situation poses a significant problem for ASTSpacemobile ($ASTS)

$ASTS investors have been waiting for guidance regarding the timeline for launching its first 5 commercial satellites, set to be launched by SpaceX on a Falcon 9 rocket by Q3. There has been much anticipation for the delivery of ASTSpacemobile satellites to Cape Canaveral sometime in July or August with a launch thereafter, the company has reiterated in multiple filings.

The delivery and launch of these satellites are now very likely delayed. A key de-risking event investors have been eyeing has been derailed for now.

This is one reason why these space companies without in-house launch capability will fail. Another reason is they are paying SpaceX (competitor) to launch their satellites lmao ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

    2. Thank god I sold mine at the peak closing friday. It was going sideways for much of the time and couldn’t swing it any higher.

Buy the fuckin dip if it crashes below 7. I have 750 shares at 6$ each. Imma keep holding. You all will look like fools in a year when they’ve launched successfully

Good. I went on a hinge date with a SpaceX engineer last week and she was so fucking weird. Her Monday AM is going to suck, Elon is probably en route now to yell at them for the next two weeks.

The Falcon 9 will be grounded until SpaceX investigates the cause of the failure, fixes the rocket and receives the FAA’s approval, the agency said in a statement. That process could take several weeks or months, depending on the issue’s complexity and SpaceX’s plan to fix it.

    7. What’s the difference between RKLB and ASTS? Why is everyone jizzing all over ASTS and not RKLB?

    8. Bro we already know the rocket blew up and the price went up 9% the day after. Spacex will be back up. There are other planned launches before ASTS and they haven’t even announced a delay.

This news came out on Friday weirdly enough the stock went up 10%. Don’t think it was related to the delay, but it does seem to suggest the market, currently, doesn’t care.

    10. The stock is tanking hard on the pre-market. The pre-market is so anti fair market but well that is what we have.

This news came out during trading on Friday and ASTS proceeded to gain another 5%…

Likely this will be resolved promptly and the launch will not be impacted. If there is a delay, it matters very little because they still have another 238 sats to launch after anyway.

    13. And that’s why it’s important to keep doing DD on upcoming tech and investing in stocks when they are still considered penny stocks.
