TLDR: ARNG member resigning AGR to enter commissioning program that requires PCS move. Will use full DITY move. Concerned about travel prior to school orders starting and TLE.

Background: I am AGR with my State's Army National Guard and will be resigning to enter a military commissioning program (same branch) that is 2.5 years in San Antonio at JBSA. I will submit my resignation starting the day before my T32 Active Duty for Training orders start (ex. resign AGR on 14 April and start date of school orders on 15 April). That way there is no lapse in health care coverage or AD time.

I have a little over 60 days of terminal leave that I will be utilizing up to the end of my AGR orders covering most of February and March/April.

My closest Active Duty installation's PCS office won't even entertain an informational phone brief until PCS orders are in hand. Knowing how my State functions, I wouldn't be surprised if these orders weren't generated until 30 days out from the report date, making it hard to be proactive.

    Rough Plan
-Depart previous duty station on 1 April
-Arrive to new duty station on 3 April
-Utilize TLE for ten days until 13 April (course report date)

    Questions:

    1. Can I begin my travel (with dependents) to my new duty station prior to my report date while on AGR terminal leave?

    2. If yes to #1, would Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) overlap over my terminal leave if I were to arrive to my new duty station prior to the report date (refer to above plan)

I have reviewed JTR Chapter 5 and feel like I have a good grasp of the benefits; however, I am just unsure how being National Guard affects them. Thanks in advance!
