Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the Army National Guard, and my last day to opt for the BRS continuation pay is in November 2024. I'm unsure if I should take it or not.

The main reason for my hesitation is that I have a goal of moving to the Air Force National Guard to fly. I'm concerned that accepting the BRS continuation pay might prohibit me from transferring branches or states. I know the BRS continuation pay is funded federally, so I don’t think it would be an issue, but I'm not entirely sure.

Additionally, would there be any issues if I had to move to the Air Force Reserves if I had to accept a pilot slot in a reserve unit?

Does anyone have experience with this or know if accepting the continuation pay would restrict my ability to transfer to the Air Force National Guard or Air Force Reserves? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    1. I think you just have to pay back if you don’t stay the time prescribed. I took in multiple years. I think it was 3 years separate checks.
