I’m active duty, currently stationed in Virginia, and shopping for a new car. We’ve been going back and forth for a couple weeks and have pretty much come to terms on the price, but now the salesperson is telling me I can’t register the vehicle in my state of legal residence (Florida) without a copy of a mortgage/lease, bank statement, or utility bill showing a Florida address. They have seen my Florida drivers license (currently with a California address) and I have offered to bring in my voter registration card, but they claim neither is sufficient.
I’d rather not start over in the negotiation process with a dealership 2+ hours away. Is there some resource (or specific section of the SCRA) I can point them to?
Dealership doesn’t believe my residency

If you wanna register in FL and you are a FL resident, use the FL MILPAK available on the DMV website.
You can register in FL. You’re buying the car, it’s your decision. You just might have to lead the horse to water and then forcefully waterboard it to get anywhere.

Tell the sales manager his staff is incompetent.
They don’t want to do more paperwork
The dealership can give you a temporary tag and you can deal with DMV in Florida
