I just got an email from DFAS stating that the agency matching contributions for the blended retirement system started today, however, I’m not in the blended retirement system. For the last 6 years I never received matching agency contributions while I was in the reserves. I’m a new transfer into the guard, is this common ? How could they mess up what retirement system I’m in ?

    Put into BRS after transfer

    1. If you want to stay in the old system (High-3) then you need to have them correct this ASAP. Although if you still have 14 years to go to be able to retire, you might want to run the numbers because there is a very good chance you would come out on top more with BRS.

All military members were automatically enrolled in BRS if they joined after Jan. 1, 2018.

How much were you contributing to TSP during your reserve time?

The DoD automatically puts in 1% for you no matter what. After that, it matched your contributions up to 5%.
