I can't seem to find the answer for this. I did 6 years active, 3 years traditional reserve, and now I'm back active and plan to stay until I hit my 20 years of active service which would put me at ~23 years time in service. I know you get 2.5% for every year after 20 but does that include if my time was spent as a traditional reservist? Would my high 3 pension be 57.5% or 50%?

23 years TIS, 20 years active. 57.5% or 50% pension?

    1. Only your AD time in the Reserves would count for an AD retirement in the 2.5% calculation.

    2. Only the portion of those 3 years you worked in uniform will count. So much closer to 20 than 23.

It would be 50%, assuming you are still Legacy, PLUS you would get points added on to your retirement from your reserve time.

      Example:
Assuming you made 78 Points a year for your reserve time. 78 times 3 Years = 234 Points

      234/360 (Year) times 2.5 percent = 1.625%

Your final pension AFTER you reach 20 years active would be 51.625%

Additional Benefit would be that you’ll get the extra years when calculating Hi-36 numbers
