So recently PCS'd and my weight was a lot over what I rate. Like 4k. We have a family of 4 and more than we thought we did (obviously). Not looking for judgment but am looking for estimates on how much I can expect to pay for being over my limit of 12k. Most stuff I find is fairly vague. Thanks in advance.

Call up the transportation office for an estimate.

You can also request a re-weigh of your goods

    2. Rule of thumb is $1-4 per pound, most people I know who had to pay have paid $1-2. That being said, if your HHG have not been delivered yet, request a reweigh of your belongings, it is very possible their first number was drastically off. Our move a few years ago they estimated at 13k lbs, and it ended up being just under 10k. A move 10+ years ago, first weight was 5k and we asked for a reweigh because our prior move had been 8k and we were worried things got lost, and the reweigh came in at somewhere between 8-9k. There is a lot of semi-shady things that go into these weights, and you can ask to be present at the reweigh.
