Recently moved from WA to NC. As the title says, my rate nearly tripled. I was told by State Farm that it's just because I'm new to the state, and thst it will go down by 4% in 6 months.

    4%?!?! Why not 60?

I literally can't afford to pay this, as I am a full-time student (I'm 30 though) and have a car payment, rent, and other bills.

Why did my car insurance nearly triple?

    1. Just like in real estate, in insurance, location location location matters. Even moving from one zip code to another in the same city can affect your rates. Call an independent broker for quotes from multiple companies.
