I check my LES every month and log every entitlement/deduction in a spreadsheet to cross-compare between months. This month, I noticed something strange… my base pay appears to be unchanged despite a recent promotion.

Pinned on O-3 last Friday the 23rd. Therefore for 22 days of August, I was an O-2, and for the last 9 days, I am an O-3.

My TIS hit 4 years back in May of this year, so TIS is not a factor for any expected base pay change this month.

Base pay of an O-2 with 4 years TIS in 2024 is $5,978.10.

Base pay of an O-3 with 4 years TIS in 2024 is $6,806.10.

    (22/31 days in 2024 as an O-2) x (base pay of $5,978.10) = $4,242.52.

    (9/31 days in 2024 as an O-3) x (base pay of $6,806.10) = $1,975.96.

    $4,242.52 + $1,975.96 = $6,218.48. Therefore, $6,218.48 is what I am tracking I should have been paid this month… 22/31 days as an O-2 and 9/31 days as an O-3.

However, my August 2024 LES says I got a base pay of $5,978.10… 31/31 days as an O-2. The LES itself even still reads “O-2” as my current grade.

$6,218.48 – $5,978.10 = $240.38 that is potentially missing from my August 2024 base pay.

Exactly two years ago when I promoted from O-1 to O-2, my Aug 2022 LES automatically adjusted to O-2… I didn’t have to tell Finance I promoted. They did the math right and paid me 22/31 days in Aug 2022 as an O-1 and 9/31 days in Aug 2022 as an O-2.

What’s going on? Do I need to tell Finance that they missed about $240.38 in my base pay by not reflecting me as an O-3 for the last 9 days of August 2024?

    1. Guessing that the promotion didn’t make it into the finance system before the pay date cutoff. Wait until September and see if you’re paid out the missing pay. If not, then put in a CSP ticket.

    2. There is days where our pay related things need to be cycled by to reflect. 23rd woulda been too late to reflect on the 1st. It’ll reflect the next pay check.
