Insurance messed up on rental car authorization

I had flood incident a month ago and have had a rental car paid for by my insurance company supposedly for the last month. Well, apparently they forgot to re-authorize the contract for 24 days and the rental car company has their fleet resolution team on me and now I am in DNR (do not rent) status.
This is my second claim this year (and actually in my life) with a normally really great [military family 😉] insurance company. First one was January, pothole then ice and it tore out my front underside, ended up being a $4000 claim. Had a nightmare experience with the rental car company then.
The most recent incident was when I got stuck in rising waters and they still haven’t come up with an estimate for my vehicle.
The rental car company called me into “renew the contract” at which point they confiscated the car and now I’m stuck at home, can’t work (I drive seniors to doctors appointments) and am in a do not rent status because my insurance company messed up. How do I deal with this?
