22F living in Toronto, Canada. On Friday, August 30, 2024, I got in a car accident. My Uber driver was at a red light and a car from out of no where rear ended us. No serious injuries had occurred besides some soreness the next day and perhaps some minor whiplash. Economical insurance company called me today to ask me some questions and they gave me the number in which I will be filing a claim with after labour day. I told the insurance company that I will be visiting my family doctor and I'm going to have him examine me as well as order me some X-Rays and CT scans to make sure that I am 100% okay before signing the settlement. I saw that a previous thread had a similar situation (albeit I think there situation was a bit more serious b/c of a minor concussion) and they got a 3.5k settlement. I don't really want to get a lawyer involved and I really don't want to tell my parents. How much do you think I could get out of it? What should I do? Do you agree or disagree with my next steps?

Do not sign the settlement right away. Things crop up!! A year aftet an accident, I learned I needed cervical spine surgery. Give yourself at least a year. Get the physio and chiro out of them at the very least.
If you have whiplash, gey xrays first, then MRI.
If you have injuries, $3.5k is nothing. Why don’t you want to tell your parents? That is very silly especially of you are injured.
