So out of curiousity, if you opt into this Snapshot program and decide to leave your tracking device at home because it's a day you want to be a rebel and break every driving rule on the road, how will the insurance company know of a customer's true driving behavior? Or could it be they are not really interested in the customer's driving behavior, but rather interested in obtaining as much personal information about someone as they can? I'm not bragging – although I think I've earned bragging rights (LOL) – but I've been driven around the world many times over the past 50 years and never had an accident and never filed a claim with an insurance company. I think I've proven myself, yet I am being charged more than I paid 35 years ago when I had a more expensive ca and living in the crime infested, traffic capital of the world, Los Angeles! Now I live in a rural area, drive 5,000 miles a year, while the car spends most of its time in the garage. My insurance rates are higher than they've ever been in my life, and all I drive is a little economy car. So here I am struggling to find a better rate, but it doesn't sound like this Snapshot program is worth it. So I guess I'll continue to bargain for a better rate.

Is Progressive Insurance Company's "Snapshot" Program Worth It?

    1. I have the State Farm version and even if I took it out the truck, the next time I put it in, it updates. Even if I leave my smart phone at home. What it did get me was 10% discount and over the next 6 months, a bigger discount if my driving stays at 90+. I also did an online 8 hour (can be done over several days) Senior Safety and got another 5% off. Good luck, it seems like all the insurances are out to bankrupt everybody in home and car.

    2. They exist to save safe drivers money and charge “safe drivers” more. So it can be helpful if you know you avoid the things it tracks.
