We are moving on base in a week. We signed our offer letter already. The offer letter said nothing about the pro-rated rent, so we called and asked what it would be.

The housing lady who answered said the since we are USMC, there is no pro-rated rent. If there was a pro-rated rent then it would’ve been on the offer letter but there is none for the marines.

She then said they just start taking BAH out of the check following your move in. So if we move in Friday afternoon, and checks are cut on the 6th for the 15th paycheck, will the 15th contain BAH? I feel like that isn’t enough time for them to start the allotment because we sign the lease the same day checks are cut. We do our walk through Friday and if everything is okay we sign the lease, it would be about 2-3pm eastern time.

Regardless we will hold onto the BAH if it is in there, kind of just want to know what to expect? And if we have to pay pro-rated rent I would’ve liked to budget/mark that expense down. Previously we’ve had to pay pro-rated rent but that was 4 years ago.
