So I had a Dentist appointment on July 31st, everything went normal, they said my insurance will cover it and I don’t have to pay.

A few weeks later I get a call saying from my dentists saying that I have to pay $195 for my visit, I ask them why and they say it is because I have been terminated from my insurance. I still have insurance from my mom, I turn 26 in December so I assume that’s the reason, so I just pay it online.

Later I told my mom what happened and she says I should still have insurance until the month of December. She calls our insurance and it turns ahead she didn’t pay for it. So she made the payment and now our insurance is active again. The insurance tells my mom that we could get a refund from the dentist since the insurance is active again.

Today I called the dentist and they say they can’t refund that money because my insurance plan started on September 1st and I was billed on August.

so is there nothing I could do to get that money back?

Unfortunately, no. If an insurance policy is cancelled then reinstated and your date of service was during the lapse, you had no insurance at that time.
