Too much for car insurance?

Hi everyone, I am a 23M living in california and I drive a 2005 Toyota Corolla. I am getting quoted at least $100/month for most 100/300/100 liability converges even with no vehicle protection. This is my first time buying coverage so I just want to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. Obviously I could go lower on the liability to save but everywhere I see says that the amount I have is recommended.
