Hopefully someone on this sub might be able to help, because I am lost when it comes to insurance. I drove to the ER August of 2023 for a heart-related issue. The ER needed to transport me to a hospital a city over to monitor me overnight. I wasn’t given an option to drive but my heart had stabilized at the ER. Get the bill which after insurance was about $6,000 that I owed. Finally paid all of that off a month ago. Then I get a letter, today, in the mail showing an additional $2450 for a 10 mile ambulance ride between hospitals.

What’s weird is the nurse at the ER had told me they didn’t charge for rides between hospitals. So I was completely surprised to get anything at all, let alone over a year later, and my insurance denied to cover any of the cost.

I changed employers earlier this year, though it is the same insurance provider. Do I have any options here, or do I just call them and get some type of payment plan set up?

    Thanks!

What was the reason for the denial on the EOB?

Never trust doctors or nurses to say who bills and who does not as they would not know as they are not in billing or work for the ambulance company.
