Hello. I’ve already reached out to my command regarding this, but I was hoping someone else could provide clarification on how something like this could happen. I separate from the Navy later this month, and I received an email claiming I owe over $6000, but provides no clarification on where the debt comes from.

According to my LES’ for the last 2 years, I owe less than $1000. I don’t understand because I have been on top of all debts I’ve owed the navy (such as being overpaid BAH after divorce), and I’ve calculated it to the dime. I don’t understand where $6000 comes from.

It claims it’s from PCS ARRIVAL BAH, but I never PCS’d. I had one command, and then separated.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

    1. You must have arrived at your first PDS at some point. That would be a PCS. I would start by checking your LESes from that time period.

There’s a place to request supporting documentation from DFAS at [askDFAS – A DFAS Customer Service Tool](https://corpweb1.dfas.mil/askDFAS/ticketInput.action?subCategoryID=13027&pgModId=5100&currentUser.currentRequestNonce=a546794d-2bd2-4f8f-8d50-4c537711a941), but that is only for separated members. You’ll probably need to talk to your finance office.

There’s additional info on disputing at debt at [Defense Finance and Accounting Service > debtandclaims > militarydebts > disagreewithdebt (dfas.mil)](https://www.dfas.mil/debtandclaims/militarydebts/disagreewithdebt/)
