I was going to work and as I driving down the road I was renewing my insurance right before I was rear ended. I received my documents via email at 621 am and I was rear ended at 624 am. I’m wondering if I’ll be covered?

    1. In theory, you’re going to be covered as long as all the times work out and as long as you aren’t caught trying to commit fraud. Assuming that you’re not, you should expect a long, drawn out process while this is investigated.

If you are trying to commit fraud, you should withdraw your claim now because this is something that is trivially simple to detect, and you will get referred to the national database that insurers use to detect people with a habit of committing fraud, which will make your future insurance costs significantly higher. And if you push it far enough, it could get referred to a prosecutor and land you in jail.

    2. what a coincidence! you should buy a lotto ticket lmao

when you say “renewed” were you insured by this company in the minutes leading up to 621am? or did you have a policy lapse?

Were you communicating with the insurance co. (or filling in forms online) *while* you were on your journey and while you were driving? Or had you done it earlier and the docs had only just been issued?

    4. I find this so funny. It just seems like justification for when they decline him and he doesn’t understand why and then complains to the state DOI that he had coverage at the time of the incident.

So you were driving and renewing your insurance at the same time. Wow.

This sounds like the typical I was on my way to make a payment story.

    6. Sure you did… if this is somehow true then be ready to be asked a lot of questions and pray you have dashcam footage with timestamp to prove it.
