Hello all,

Earlier this week I was rear ended by a driver covered by Allstate insurance. I’ve completed the claims process (filing claim myself, making police report, taking my car for inspection and getting estimate etc.) and now that I am at the end of the process Allstate is telling me that I need to schedule and complete the repair before they will pay out the estimated amount.

Since I an not at fault, not the one under their policy, and have basically done all of the run around to get this done, why am I not able to just get a check from Allstate and be done? I was planning on taking my check to a family member who owns their own repair business and getting a few other things handled with the payout since the amount is higher than what they would’ve charged me vs. getting it done at the shop that did my estimate. Obviously I haven’t told this to the adjuster.

Every other insurance claim I have made (home or auto) has been check in hand, what’s gives?

    1. If there is no lienholder then you should be able to get it. Have you asked if they can make it out to the shop instead? Then just have them issue it to the shop you are going to use
