My wife’s mother passed away in April and we have had such a chaotic time trying to understand all the processes involved. Not too mention that she owes money and we are unsure whether to accept the succession. Got both Quebec will searches done and finally meeting the bank tomorrow to create an estate account. She had life insurance with Manulife with her job. No beneficiary listed so that will go straight to the estate. I called Manulife today to ask some questions and they said there is a 90 day period to submit the life insurance claim. She recommended we include a letter explaining the delay. Are we toast?

I asked about this the last time we had a seminar with our company’s insurance and was told that there is no deadline in filling a death claim. Maybe it depends on the insurance company. But if they asked you to send a letter you can comply and just explain the situation. Good luck OP!
