My country (Vietnam) recently seems to be stagnant in music, and not having any new music with different taste anymore. We intend to make a social media that centers only music (consider it like Soundcloud) but helps the musicians can receive donations from it.

Moreover, the platform allows the interaction more between the musician and the other users because the users can point out some bad spot in their music, and they will get more attention from the users too. Maybe also some social media features like stories, status, and center to the interactions between musicians and users. Obviously users will have an app to listen to artists music too.

We want to make this because I heard the court case that Spotify musicians only make $12/month. So now they can receive donations directly from their followers and pursue their dream.

    1. Not trying to discourage u but I think there are companies that do the same. Even if u succeed as a prototype other platform can easily look and integrate that features u offer. Music industry is a High competition.

    2. With the intention of roasting.

Why should users and musicians use this platform, and not just YouTube?

    3. hey, I’m in Vietnam right now, love the country (my partner is Vietnamese too!), so I’m happy you came to reddit for help.

To be super honest, there’s so many other companies vying for creator attention, the market is so fragmented and it’s highly unlikely to be attractive to creators

    4. It’s got legs, you don’t always have to have an entirely original idea, you just have to get people to buy into your version of it. I guess the main question is this, if it is a good idea then why is nobody else doing it?

    5. Artists will only use this if it gets them listeners.

Listeners will only use this if there are lots of songs on it.

      It’s a classic chicken-egg problem that two-sided marketplaces face.

It’s super hard to solve. You generally do so by starting with the supply. Get the artists. Why? Because listeners trying your app with no songs will never come back. Like going to a store with empty shelves. How? Good question. Is there an existing local musical community you can sign up all at once? A local Vietnamese record label you can partner with? Are you friends with the biggest local star who can post to all their followers?

Even with a solid first step like this you’ll need big marketing money to keep momentum going. The hard part isn’t the tech. It’s getting the community traction and keeping it.
