I've searched in the internet about the actual process of selling my leave days but I couldn't find one. People talked about selling up to 60 days, how much is taxed, and when you can sell it but nobody actually explained what steps we need to take to sell our leave days. Do we go to finance and sell our leave days when outprocessing finance?

What is the actual process of selling unused leave dates in the Army when retiring?

    1. May work differently for the Army, but in the AF any leave you have on your last day is automatically sold (up to the 60 day limit). Pretty sure it’s a DoD level thing though considering they dictate leave accrual and such for the armed forces (rather than allowing each individual service to do so).

    2. From your ETS balance you submit how much terminal leave you want to take, not including PTDY, and any remaining leave days you’ll get paid for at some point after ETS.
