Hey everyone,

I’m a recent college grad doing well in my career, but I’ve been running into major roadblocks when it comes to networking on LinkedIn. I know it’s supposed to be the platform for professional connections, but it feels like a waiting game every time I reach out. Either people take forever to reply, or worse, they just don’t respond at all. It’s pretty discouraging when you’re trying to expand your network, especially in specific fields like AI.

Does anyone else struggle with this? Do you know of any mobile apps or platforms that encourage more active, real-time networking? Ideally, I’d love to connect with AI specialists or people in tech who are eager to chat. Any suggestions on tech that makes networking more engaging and less of a grind?

    Appreciate any advice!

So there are time when yes it is a waiting game until invite being accepted. Some folks will have LION on their tagline, which means LinkedIn Open Network. These LinkedIn users are willing to add you to their for whatever reason.

If they don’t have LION, then again, you unfortunately have to wait until they accept your connection.

There are things you can do to improve your odds:

      1. Send a message along with the connection requests. The message should be authentic. Before writing a message plan it out and have a reason for contacting them.

      2. Have a profile photo that’s welcoming.

      3. It wouldn’t hurt if you and the other person are in the same field.

      4. If you are networking for a job, your initial email shouldn’t talk about the fact that you are seeking employment. “It should say that you are a recent grad from xyz university and seeking to expand your professional network. “

      5. Make sure your profile is complete and it makes sense. The tagline and About sections are crucial.

      6. Be engaged on LinkedIn. Respond to post, share articles, etc.
