So I’ve had this idea for a long time now and finally decided to consider taking action.
My product is a clothing accessory that I think would be beneficial for many people in the Middle East especially.
I’ve only worked in corporate so far and I have no experience in business and investing.
He’s what I’m considering at the moment:
1) Partnering up with someone who is already in the industry who has experience and connections. (Manufacturing, designing, resources, marketing etc)
2) Starting from scratch and trying to navigate it all by myself.
I know #2 requires lots of hard work and commitment. And at the end it will be more rewarding.
And for #1 I don’t mind going 50-50 with a partner who can help me with all the hurdles I’m unfamiliar with.
Any tips on how to start and where to begin? How careful should I be discussing my idea with people who could be potential partners?
And any general tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would do crowdfunding based on just the idea and just source the manufacturing to China. That way you aren’t investing your own money aside from the crowd funding campaign. But you can keep full equity.
Alibaba! Get a sample made from a vendor, might have high initial cost for moulding and stuff. You don’t need much help to get manufacturing sorted. Use ChatGPT for things you’re stuck with.
Put aside a few thousand dollars to run Facebook ads. Use Canva templates to make your ads. Shopify for your store.
As simple as that!
Before anything else, focus on market research and customer discovery. Talk to potential customers in the Middle East, see if there’s demand, and gather feedback. Understanding your market is key before you dive in.
Msg me and I’ll ask some questions, and then give you the steps to take. I don’t need or want anything. Alibaba is not the way to go.
