Permaculture Business, Increase Income & Land Value

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of developing a business idea that starts with brush clearing services, and leads to helping landowners transform their properties into low-maintenance, income-generating permaculture systems. My ultimate goal is to assist people in retiring early by using their land to 

• increase their income
• Decrease their expenses
• Increase property value

A simplified definition of Permaculture is essentially natural, self-sustaining ecosystems using food or good producing plants that are local to the region. 

I’ll be targeting homeowners with 1-5 acres of land, and eco-conscious property owners who want to increase land productivity without adding more work to their lives.

My main selling points for now are

• Reduced Expenses and Extra Income with little maintenance 
  • (I need to detail exactly how this will be done, specifically how much Money Generated relative to Maintenance Required 
• Increases their Property Value. 
  • (Testing at my Dads property, How much can I increase land value per acre, over 1 year, and using which methods? )

Some side bonuses are 

• Aesthetics
• Reduced yard maintenance
• Positive environmental impact

My first project is on my Fathers property. I’ll be doing it for free, recording progress to begin creating a portfolio. I will be learning while I go, and testing which ideas can work. 

I will be purchasing the physical tools to do this, starting with a self propelled walk-behind brush mower, and offering those as services on the side. 

The end goal is to employ a team to offer a sort of Alternative Financial Planning. I think I can get people excited by seeing how this can lead to an early retirement, and also provide resilience if times get tough. 

So to sum up:

I’ll be generating income by offering the tools I use on my projects as services.

Eventually I will offer the projects in a consulting sort of way. 

I would like it to tie in to a bigger picture, where I can free people up to do what they really want with their time. 

My next steps are:

• Create a website
  • Offer Current services
  • Record Project Progress
• Begin Work on 1st Project
  • Purchase Brush Mower 
  • Begin Educating on how I can increase land value the most
    • Which plants/trees in my area are best to produce income with little maintenance?
    • How much do aesthetics play into this? 

Currently running through the idea with these questions:

• Can I increase someone’s property value by 10k, and generate them 2k/yr after that, in one year?
• Can I do this for 10 clients per year, and charge 7.5k each?
• What will my expenses be?
• How much work will I put in and what will it look like

Ultimately, this is what I would do with my free time if I was a billionaire. I enjoy the process of making this work, so I don't mind passing on other options that may be more lucrative for me effort.

Any recommendations to educate myself on the business side of this, or anything else I am not considering here?
