Hey quick question, long explanation.

A guy I work with moved his family home before he had separation orders so he paid out of pocket for the move at the time. Since then, a few months have passed and he moved back home himself. Now that he’s there, he went ahead and re-loaded up a moving truck, got it weighed, and submitted the paperwork in DPS(I think that’s what it’s called) for reimbursement.

I guess my question is if he’s going to be alright or if he could get in trouble for it? He outprocessed from the base to start skillbridge about a month prior to submitting his docs in DPS, will anyone see that gap in when he left the base to when he submitted the docs? Our base is still technically his duty station but he’s PTDY on skillbridge. He did say that multiple people at the TMO office told him to do this if he wants to be compensated for the move.

Just want to be able to help him out if I can/ need to. Maybe I’m overthinking it for him but still want to see what people have to say on here. I may delete this post after a bit because even asking this feels like I’m ratting on him.

    1. He can get in trouble for that. Any move done before orders are issued is specifically excluded in the JTR.
