I mean, how many entrepreneurs, especially tech, saas, agencies, etc, do NOT love the human interaction that is involved with a zoom call, regular call, or in person sale?

What is it about sales that you don't love?

What is it about sales that you DO love?

How many of you have a sales process? Is it something you came up with? Is it something you've revised and improved upon?

How many entrepreneurs out there hate sales?

    1. I don’t really like trying to convince people to buy something. On my current venture trying to do product leasing to see if i can reduce touchpoints

I like building a great product and solving problems.

I hate having to deal with people who lie

I’m very much a people person AND I’m in the tech industry. I hate sales because I can’t take rejection all day. wears me out.

    4. It’s my favorite part. No one else can express or explain how great our services are in detail. Granted, I have had years of sales training as a stockbroker before opening my company. My favorite part is the opportunity to meet and learn about others and helping them reach their goals.

Oh I could speak on this for hours with lots of data and anecdotal stories which could easily be used to make some sales product or service more marketable, sellable, and profitable. Don’t even get me started, cause I’ll just vomit our consumer feedback after consumer feedback.

I don’t hate them…I just wasn’t born highly skilled in this area, and have to work harder than others out there at this to get better. I actually wish I was good at them since these are skills you use in every aspect of life.

In 2 years, I think my sales skills have drastically improved…what I’m struggling with now is the initial prospecting. If I could just find a way to get prospects to give me a few minutes to discuss their hurdles, I’m more than confident I can provide some type of solution, whether it’s provided by me, my competitor, or themselves.

    7. I hate sales, I hate talking myself up. I hate boasting. I hate trying to get someone to care for something they don’t.

But in my current company I’ve been able to get away without having a formal selling process of any kind, people have come to me. Which is nice.

My new company will be a bit different and I’ll need to get more comfortable being uncomfortable.

    8. I hate sales sooo much! I prefer making companies that I don’t have to sell people on. The trades, dog grooming and rental properties are the ones I have now and they are all word of mouth and all successful. I have friends that are great at sales and I envy them because it would open a lot of opportunities for me if I was comfortable doing that, but it’s important to know what you’re good at and go in that direction.

    9. Me but I am learning its just simply a conversation with people about their problems and seeing if you can solve it with your product.

What helped for me was getting help systematizing the sales process so it was “just another part of the business”, like product, engineering, etc. It’s easy to think of sales as this stressful, manipulative thing only for sweet talkers. But I’ve learned a lot of sales is actually a science you can learn and improve at.

Learn how to give a good demo, create a script of key questions to ask and when, and how to end the calls specifically, and just treat it as another process for your business. I don’t love it but I enjoy it much more now, especially when you get one of those sweet, sweet sales
