I'm having trouble turning my brain off "work mode" to enjoy my family and friends. My brain just won't stfu about what I should be doing for my business or new ideas and products I can add to my inventory. I mean, I don't mind having great ideas but dang. I just caught myself working on tax stuff before bed. TAXES. Ffs….

    How do you do it?

How do you turn off for the day?

I don’t. I do whatever I feel like and dont do whatever I don’t feel like whenever I want, and I don’t worry about it.

I go on walks but I can’t seem to fully escape a day without a minute of screen time. my eyes are bleeding.

Im 22, i do fence and hardscape from the start I had to get used to it because some clients tend to text even at 8:30-9:30 which is annoying.

2 years in buisness so I either have a beer with my guys after work and go home and I perfer to do office work at night feels way better then during the day, don’t know why but I perfer it that way.

Regarding stress when taxes, payroll, insurances, workers comp, etc. I try to keep my self really busy with marketing and bringing in new leads as it keeps my mind off those big bills and also a good feeling when I have 2 months full of work knowing I can pay those off.

I’m not in a spot to really take a break yet, but if I were to I would get a 2nd phone for buisness, work as much hours as I can in the week to take care of the buisness, no work on the weekends, hire an assistant.

      You really don’t.

You can always take a hike(literally go on a walk somewhere), or hang out with friends, but this is ultimately IMO the reality of having a business. When you work for yourself and not for someone else that means all the burden is on you.

Something screws up? On you. Product didn’t ship? On you. Accounting issues? On you.

This is the price you pay for doing your own thing and not clocking in and out for someone else. Of course it’s important to have hobbies, spend time with people and have a life outside of work. But when everything is on you, your business should and will always be on your mind.

For me I try to settle into a routine, so I’ll be in ‘work mode’ from morning to early evening before winding down for the day, whether it’s by taking a walk outside or playing a video game.

I find that over time my brain is trained to be active during the period when I need to be the most productive, and will automatically turn off before bed.

Maybe it’s something you can consider.

    6. There’s a video on Youtube, just type “Go4x4 rain”.
i usually just switch off the lights in a closed room, play the video, and close my eyes. It helps.

    7. That is a great question. Balance is key to survive. Be organized, force your self into a routine that includes a “cooling time”. No One-size-fist-em-all.

Find activities and schedule them. Burn out exists.
