Tim Cook:

"There is a saying that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life,

At Apple, I learned that is a total crock,

Rather, when you find a job you are passionate about, you will work hard, but you won’t mind doing so.

You will work harder than you ever thought possible, but the tools will feel light in your hands

(Some motivation for you) I think this is the greatest thing I have ever heard. And I only heard it today.

    1. I don’t know why people generally consider work=bad. We’ve been wired for thousands of years to labor and be productive. You know, that thing we call work.

It’s not until the last few decades that life has become so easy that we have surplus time and energy constantly. I was fortunate to take a year sabbatical and I learned really quick that I’m miserable if I’m not building or creating something.

PS. Do you have a link to that source of that quote? I don’t think Tim Cook said that. It sounds like it’s a paraphrased or adapted version of Steve’s ideas, particularly from his 2005 Stanford commencement address, where he discusses the importance of loving what you do.

this whole “dont follow your passion” is fn stupid and never made any sense to me. (im looking at you cal newport) “Find a job youre passionate about”? How the hell does that work? Trying to find a job youre passionate about is like shooting an arrow in to a forest in pitch black and hoping to strike an animal. Follow your passion and make that into a job, and live by chuck closes doctrine “Inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us just get to work”

and my favorite quote: “The difference between a professional and an amateur is that the professional does what he loves doing, even on the days he doesn’t fel like it.”
