This ex coworker hit me up the other day. An army buddy. He offered me a position at his company as an “assistant broker”.

I understand the word broker but I don’t understand what he does, how he does it, or what exactly he wants me to do.

He says he basically finds sellers for goods the US government wants to buy and gets a commission off of that. The money seems really good. When I asked what he wanted me to do for him he stated that he wanted someone to do “market research”.

Does anybody have any info on this industry?

It sounds to me like some kind of sigma grindset Herbalife pyramid scheme but he doesn’t want me to buy anything. There’s no inventory.

    What do you guys think?

    What does this guy do?

There’s somebody out there peddling a War Dogs University or something.

It may be like real estate cash buyers who put up bandit signs on phone poles saying they will teach you real estate investing. You will only get paid if you succeed in finding a viable deal that goes through in an increasing competitive market where a lot of people are looking.

If he’s going to pay you for the time you put in doing research for him and it’s enough for you, it may be worth a try. I wouldn’t touch it as a finder’s fee deal.
