Oil exploration company spectrum Geo limited, which hosted an oil and gas conference on behalf of the Somali government in London has denied auctioning gas and oil blocks located within a contentious section of the Indian Ocean which is currently at the centre of a bitter diplomatic dispute between Kenya and Somalia. This clarification is contained in a letter drafted by the company’s executive vice president to the Somali ministry of petroleum and mineral resources, with an attachment of the map of the region it marketed during the London auction. This clarification came as Somali scholar and former military intelligence in Somalia Dr. Ahmed Omar jess cautioned on need for Kenya and Somalia to resolve the stand off through dialogue away from the courts. Sentiments which were echoed by kenya’s governance expert prof. Peter Kagwanja. The two were speaking as colonel Omar, launched a memoir detailing the events leading to the fall of Somalia.
